Samoa was well represented at the China Offshore Summit, Shanghai 2021, an event designed exclusively by China Offshore (MX Media) and local practitioners to raise the awareness of Chinese financial intermediaries on the effective use of tax planning and asset management solutions available in other jurisdictions.
The event was held at the Grand Kempinski Hotel, Shanghai. Travel restrictions meant that a delegation from Samoa were not able to attend in person, however through the use of technology, the team from Samoa were able to participate and present virtually to up to 400 participants some who attended in-person and virtually.
There have been several changes in the international finance environment, which includes the introduction and regulation for Economic Substance requirements. As part of Samoa's response to global change, presentations by Samoa's delegation highlighted the salient features and benefits of corporate re-domiciliation to Samoa and its wealth management solutions, International Trusts and Foundations.
The China Offshore Summit is one of the most valuable events in positioning Samoa's financial service industry in China, which is why Samoa through its International Finance Centre has been a sponsor for many years and has been able to participate as Presentation Speakers and Panelists for specific discussions.
Samoa IBFC participants included Chief Manager, Tuala Tapuitea Lafaialii-Petaia, Section Head, Ms. Watsonia Fereti as presenters throughout the Event.
